Dentures

Full and partial dentures, custom-made for your mouth and fitted with patience — so you can eat, laugh and smile with confidence again.

01 / The consult sheet

What to expect, visit by visit.

Today's dentures aren't the ones our grandparents wore — and a careful fit is the reason why.

Step 01

Measure and match

We start by taking impressions of your mouth with a soft, putty-like material — you hold still for a few moments, and it's done. We also measure how your jaws meet, and together we choose the colour of your new teeth, so the finished denture looks like it has always belonged to you.

Step 02

Try it in wax first

Before anything is final, you try a working version of your denture set in wax. This is the quality check — ours and yours. You see how it looks and feels in your own mouth, and we make changes while changes are still easy.

Step 03

Your finished denture

At the final visit we fit the finished denture — made for your mouth and no one else's. We check your bite, make sure nothing presses or rubs, and you leave wearing your new smile.

Step 04

Settling in, honestly

Any new denture takes a little getting used to — that's normal, and we'd rather say so plainly than promise otherwise. If a spot rubs or a word won't come out quite right in the first week or two, come back and tell us. Small adjustments make a big difference, and we'd much rather see you again than have you quietly put up with discomfort.

02 / Good to know

Questions we're often asked.

Usually four to five. The first visits cover impressions, jaw measurements and choosing the colour of your new teeth; then comes the wax try-in, where you check the fit and look before anything is final; and at the last visit you receive the finished denture. None of it is rushed — a denture that fits well is worth the extra visit.

A full denture replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. A partial denture fills the gaps around the natural teeth you still have. Both are custom-made for your mouth, in metal or plastic — we'll talk through which combination suits you before anything begins.

Honestly — usually not on day one, and anyone who promises otherwise is being optimistic. Today's dentures are far more comfortable and natural-looking than the ones our grandparents wore, but every mouth needs a settling-in period for eating and speaking. If anything rubs or feels off, come back: small adjustments are quick, and you shouldn't put up with an uncomfortable denture.

Much like natural teeth: clean them daily with a soft brush, rinse them after eating, and handle them gently — over a folded towel or a sink of water is a good habit, in case they slip. Keep up your regular check-ups too, so we can watch the fit of your denture and the health of your gums. We'll go through it all with you when your denture is fitted.

Yes. Dental implants and bridges also replace missing teeth, and each suits different mouths and budgets. Dentures are usually the quickest and most affordable path to a whole smile — but we'll lay out all your options honestly and let you choose.

It depends on whether you need a full or partial denture and the material that suits you best, so we don't publish a single price. You'll always get a quote in writing before any treatment begins — we'll always talk cost before we treat. If you have health fund cover, call (03) 9560 2702 and we'll help check it before you come in.
